Welcome to Science in a Seashell !
I am Pauline 'Palaeowave', Dr. in Oceanography, Palaeoceanography, Climatology and Environmental sciences. I am passionate about the ocean world and work as a Freelance scientific illustrator (click here to see my portfolio and here to have a look to the services I propose) and science mediator (click here to read some articles I wrote).
I created this website as a little seashell, where one can find information about the ocean, the beautifull life living in it and its history. I share information from recent scientific publications but also important knowledge and fun facts that will be hard to find elsewhere, always with respect for scientific rigour.
This website aims to present my work and make ocean science available to as much people as possible! You will find on it the different projects I did as a scientist and as a freelance, a list of the ocean science mediation events to come and mediation articles I wrote.
Additionally, I added a list of media you can enjoy both in english and french to learn more about this beautiful world (books, podcasts and board games). You will also find my portfolio and a list of services I propose in case you would like me to work with you. Feel free to reach me out and enjoy!

We only have one big ocean, separated in different bassins. With climate change, come up the urge to understand it better to be able to protect it.
As scientists, we aim to understand the influence that the ocean has on us and our world, but, also, the influence that we, as humans have on the ocean. This understanding is essential to lead sustainable action and take wise decisions regarding the ocean, its ressources and its ecosystems. Sharing collective knowledge in all the thematics related to the ocean sciences and its challenges is of much importance and the more the population will be informed and the wider the public, the better will be the influence of the mobilisation around ocean sciences and preservation.
